The Royal British Legion Women's Section was formed in 1921 - its task was to safeguard the interest of widows and families of ex-Servicemen and women and to augment and widen the activities of the Legion. The Women's Section is an integral part of the The Royal British Legion and raises money to carry out its benevolent work by the individual efforts of the members in their branches. There are 1328 branches and 89,000 members of the Royal British Legion Women's Section. New members are always welcome and are needed to help us to continue to care. We have a number of national schemes whereby charitable help can be given to ex-Servicewomen and wives/widows of ex-Servicemen and their children. Our members, within their branches, enjoy a wide range of activities all year round, including social events, workshops, seminars, fund-raising, visits to places of interest and much more. An annual Conference is held each year alternatively in Blackpool and Bournemouth and is attended by over 2,500 members and visitors and manyVIPs from ex-Service organisations. Full membership of the Women's Section is open to all women in Her Majesty's Forces, ex-Servicewomen, wives, widows, mothers, sisters, daughters and women dependants of past and present Service men and women. We welcome women of all ages, whether or not they are ex-Servicewomen or have a Service connection. Charity number 219279.
