Sherborne Camera Club and Bradford Abbas Camera Club joined forces in May 1992 to form the Sherborne Bradford Abbas Camera Club. There are not many of us - 15 at the end of 2000 - but we're people who enjoy taking photographs. Some specialise; some take all sorts; some concentrate only on slides; some take only prints. Some process their own; some use trade processing.
The programme includes talks/demonstrations, competitions with neighbouring camera clubs, occasional internal competitions, discussion and critique of Photographic Federation portfolios of slides and prints as well as our own. We are in need of, and would welcome, new members.

Popular canoe club based at Sutton Bingham Reservoir, just south of Yeovil. Achieved Top Community Club status by the British Canoe Union in April 2005 and awarded Clubmark award by Sport England. Now in it's seventh year and with over 170 members the club is very active in recreational canoeing with disabled days, river tours, sea and surf trips, junior sessions to name a few. We compete national in slalom, marathon, sprint and south west canoe polo league. Our most popular activity just social paddling, barbeques on the beach and weekend camping by a river. We run regular sessions during the week and weekends and anyone is welcome to come and try it. 2006 saw completion of our boat store at Sutton Bingham Reservoir which has greatly enhanced the facilities the club can offer.Equipment loan and expert coaching by qualified instructors is available at club sessions. Canoes, water, fresh air, instructors and people out to enjoy themselves Look on our website for detailsof current activities.

We have between 70-100 people who give their time voluntarily to help the people of Swanage when requested. Communicare offers help to all who are worried, lonely or in need of neighbourly kindness.
If you, or someone you know, needs help with: shopping, collecting prescriptions/pensions, accompanying the frail either walking or in a wheelchair, form filling or writing letters, visiting/reading to the elderly/handicapped/housebound/lonely, hospital liaison when patients return home, sitting in to relieve carer, visiting the bereaved, car transport for hospital visits or other compassionate reasons (a nominal charge is made based on the mileage covered, minimum £1 a trip) call Communicare.
